Evo Street Racers would like to welcome Sgt. Jim Butler of the St. Albans Police Department & St. Albans Beat the Heat into Evo’s Ambassador Program. Want a chance to race against the cops? Join the excitement at the 2nd annual West Virginia Beat the Heat Challenge where civilians will have the opportunity to race against police on an 1/8 mile trackat Kanawha Valley Dragway (May 22 - 23, 2009).
If you have ever been tempted to race on the street, wanted to see if you can really beat a police officer in a race, looking to race your friend in a grudge match, or simply want to watch police car exhibition runs this event accommodates for all age groups. Regardless of how fast or slow a vehicle is their will be a police car in attendance of equal capability to race against with the defining factor being who is the more skilled racer. Never raced at a track before? Not a problem! Police officers will be onsite to not only volunteer their time to race against but will also be available to answer any questions and provide advice as to how to race at a motorsports facility and tips and tricks for posting the best possible times!

Beat the Heat members will accept challenges from all comers. We give preference to younger drivers, but anyone can challenge a cop to a drag race. Beat the Heat cars range from retired cruisers to all out race prepared cars and run the eighth mile in from 6 to 14 seconds, so we have a car for everyone to challenge.
Event Itinerary: Saturday, May 23
Beat the Heat teams will bracket race for title of WV Beat the Heat Challenge Champ and any high school and college age driver who enters will race in a separate bracket race for prizes.
The track has reduced entry fees for Friday to $10.00.
Last year we had 10 Beat the Heat teams from four states participate. Additionally the world's fastest police car, the jet powered Interceptor, made exhibition passes. The Interceptor is returning and I expect to have a more Beat the Heat teams for 2009.
