A Year in Review - A message from Evo Street Racers President Source: President's Office 2008 has marked one of the largest expansions of the Evo organization since its inception in 2003. We attributed over 2.5 million visitors in 2008 to the growing response, from not only America but the World, for a unified presence to address the problem of illegal street racing. Evo has met this challenge and went beyond it as we developed a presence in new area’s including Thailand, Europe, and Australia. Without a dedicate staff composed of volunteers, an awesome network of Ambassadors, and the member base’ support the expansion would not have been possible. My utmost gratitude for the work each and everyone of you have contributed to the campaign of deterring Illegal Street racing with viable alternatives. Furthermore new relationships have been forged across the nation with none-profit groups, professional racers, reformed illegal street racers, businesses, law enforcement, and more resulting in Evo’s network and subsequent reach being expanded by exponential amounts. With as much success that Evo Street Racers has reaped; there is much work to be completed and new ground to be broken in 2009. One major concern voiced by Evo web viewers and members is restoring the corporate responsibility of motorsports sanctioning bodies (the associations that define the rules and regulations for races). At the core of their concern is the belief that many motorsports sanctioning bodies have abandoned their roots, taking racing off the street onto the track, to reap the higher profits derived in professional racing. This short-term instant gratification technique has resulted in the decaying of grassroots racing programs thereby resulting in amateur racers turning to the street to compete and our youth becoming disenchanted with track racing to pursue the allure of the Street Scene. It also has been documented that any changes to the current operation strategy of these associations would be derived from a decreased membership count or as public relations stunt to obtain promotions for their pro-races; therefore, it would not last. Evo Street Racers understands the historical significance where the above concerns arise from. We agree that any plan set forth for the wrong reason will ultimately fail. The impact of premature failure on an already sensitive environment could result in disastrous consequences as the Street Scene further separates from motorsports racing. Evo intends to address these factors and many more as we invest our efforts into a long term sustainable plan which all parties will benefit from. All the Best In The New Year,
