Illegal Street Racing Deaths - Fatality Statistics Study

Source: Evo Street Racers Studies & Research Department
Release Date: February 18, 2009
Update / Revision: N/A

Illegal Street Racing accidents often have dire consequences resulting in the participants and innocent bystanders being injured and killed.  To better comprehend the impact of the illegal street racing Evo Street Racers performed a study on deaths associated with the illegal activity.  The statistics derived from the study reflect data which includes:

  • Deaths associated with VERIFIED Illegal Street Racing accidents
  • The entire United States (Including Alaska & Hawaii)
  • A ten year period (1999 – Early 2009)
  • Participants & Innocent Bystanders (No distinction in made)

Do to inconsistent laws/citation writing, varying law enforcement techniques, and lack of universal terminology a statistically significant count of those affected is unknown. As such the focus of the study is not on the amount of people affected by illegal street racing rather the age groups affected; therefore, Evo Street Racers will not be releasing the sample count which the study was derived from.

It is highly recommended to click the below link to better understand the historical concern relating to statistics thereby allowing a better interpretation of this study. Click here.

Illegal Street Racing Fatality Rates: 15 Year Age Range (With Unspecified Ages)

  • Results reflect age groups ranging from unborn children (unborn babies of pregnant women) to age 90. Fatalities of persons with an unspecified age are also included (Person verified as dead from illegal street racing; however, the age is not released publicly.). The highest incidence of illegal street racing deaths is age group 15-29 and the lowest incidence is age group 75-90. Most state laws do not permit law enforcement agencies to release the age of minors (under the age of 18) to the media without parental permission. Should the ages be released from the people in the unspecified category, it is believed that both the "unborn children to 14" age group and "15 to 29" age group would increase substantially.
