Rob Hollar Tribute Page: The American Dream

Source: Evo Street Racers Communications Dept.
Release Date: September 27, 2009
Update / Revision: N/A

The American Dream…a concept which many take for granted yet defines the very foundation of our country.  To be able to grow a family, become a productive member of society, and enjoy the freedoms that come within our great country are a few of the many American Dreams people embrace.  Yet sadly the American Dream is constantly being challenged through the hands of illegal street racers with a need for speed on public Rob Hollarroads.

Rob Hollar was the embodiment of the American Dream as he represented everything that is good and promising in the world.  He was: young at only 31 years of age, a very capable employee that shared 15 years working at the side of his father, the provider for his family, a loving son, a dedicated husband with a gorgeous four year old daughter, and a loyal and trusting friend.  Life appeared as an amazing gift in the Hollar family as they prepared for yet another memorable holiday season in 2007. Little did Rob and his family realize that it was to be on this holiday season that he would take his last breathe as his American dream would be lost forever.

Rob was traveling westward on State Road 520 near Maxim Parkway on Friday December 21, 2007. Traveling eastward was one Justin Lawson of Orlando (19 years old) in his supercharged Ford Mustang.  Justin, engaged in a high speed illegal street race with a pickup truck, lost control of his vehicle which crossed the median and flipped over onto oncoming traffic.  Unfortunately, at this very moment Rob was driving in the opposing direction and Justin’s Mustang crashed atop Rob’s vehicle.  The impact killed Rob instantly.  Lindsay Brown, a passenger in the Mustang, also died at the scene while she was trapped in the wreckage.  The only survivor was Justin Lawson.

A friend, a son, a father, and a husband was needlessly killed before Christmas because of one person’s choice to engage in an illegal street race.

The pain of such a traumatic loss doesn’t end at the crime scene, burial, or for that matter at all.  The loss breathes in the hearts, minds, and actions of the hundreds of people that loved Rob for his caring, loving, and generous personality.

Rob has a four year old daughter that says everyday that her daddy visits her, a dog that awaits for his arrival but he never comes through the door, a father whom travels the identical route on which his son died to enter a shop where his son will never be there again, and a mother whom relives the experience every time she explains to Rob’s customers that he is dead.  Inevitably for the Hollar family, holidays will never be the same.

The lost is indescribable and incalculable.

May Rob Hollar be forever remembered for what he was, may his dreams and aspirations live through his friends and family, and may his endearing spirit in the American Dream be a lesson for us all to find the joy in life.
