Illegal street racing has been a part of the American Car Culture ever since the inception of a motor being installed into a buggy.  Throughout the years the activity of street racing has continued to advance in popularity with the major difference being the choice in vehicles to race.  With the advent of the sports compact car scene, modern day muscle cars, and the import scene, nationally; illegal street racing continues to claim hundreds of lives and injuring thousands annually. Technologies and media such as cell phones, websites, forums, underground publications, and movies have not only glamorized street racing but also heightened the risk for the participants, bystanders, and police.

In response to this societal epidemic Street Scene Revolution’s Evo Street Racers was founded in 2003 to assist in the evolution of street racers into motorsports racers.  With our knowledge in designing, implementing, and coordinating a comprehensive set of anti-street racing programs derived from extensive experience on the street, strip, and classroom we have the solutions to save lives.

At the core of illegal street racing it is simply an addiction to adrenaline, desire for renown, and need for speed. These "addictions and desires" need not end rather be transferred into the safer, controlled, and legal environment of a motorsports track. Street Scene Revolution's Evo Street Racers has composed a comprehensive and unified anti-street racing campaign composed of four steps:

Step 1: Equity through ownership:
Equity through ownership: design race events for illegal street racers by illegal street racers.  Working directly with street racers, Evo Street Racers seeks to objectively capture the geographic specific factors that lead to racing on the street and possible solutions to hinder the activity.  The geographic specific market data will be gathered into actions reports and provided to local race tracks and motorsports sanctioning bodies to assist in implement racing programs that provide viable alternatives to street racing.  Working with aftermarket automobile companies and local business Evo Street Racers offers a free membership program that enables members to receive discounts to Beat the Badge Events, Super Bowl of Street Racing events, and on high performance parts (when available).  Also, Evo Street Racer’s Members receive free consultation and assistance in creating and coordinating their own Street Scene based event at their local track. Evo Street members also have the opportunity to post articles about street racing on the official site!

Step 2: Community Inclusion:
Unfortunately illegal street racing is not an isolated activity.  It is all to often that innocent bystanders are injured or killed while walking, cycling, or driving nearby a street race.  The grief of an innocent life being abruptly taken doesn’t end at the accident scene rather it affects the families for decades thereafter. Focusing on community inclusion to significantly reduce this highly dangerous young adult oriented, (ages 16 through 25), risk-taking activity various local, county, and state agencies, business, and interest groups must become involved in the anti-street racing campaign.  Not only has Street Scene Revolution's Evo Street Racers program's proven to curtail illegal street racing and create safer communities but it can also act as an economically viable revenue stream for motorsports tracks and businesses.

Step 3: Design and Coordinate Outreach Programs:
Proactive approaches often yield the largest percentage of success in any campaign regardless of what area and goal.  One example of a proactive approach being integrated into the battle against illegal street racing is the “Operational Speeding Ticket.”  Based on the success of Officer Fraijo’s LASR’s program in Southern California, the ticket is redeemable for one free admission and tech card into a participating motorsports track.  Police Officers will hand out these tickets to high risk young adults who may consider street racing or to a person they have pulled over for a speeding/reckless driving violation. The ticket will be used as a vital tool for police agencies to interact with street racers in a positive manner, educate them in the dangers of streets racing, and notify them to alternatives as the officer provides the person with a free ticket to race at the track.

Step 4: Effective Legislation
Once viable infrastructure and alternatives to illegal street racing are secured in an area Evo Street Racers lobbies for effective and stricter anti-street racing legislation. Weak and poorly enforced street racing laws present the wrong image to our youth and illegal street racers.  Weak laws convey the message that communities and political leaders don’t consider illegal street racing dangerous enough to enact laws that would impose significant penalties to the participants.

By combining the efforts of illegal street racers, law enforcement agencies, motorsports tracks, the media, and communities across America Evo Street Racers feels confident that we can dramatically reduce the incidence of illegal street racing in America while providing a safe and fun alternative, thus making the community safer and better to live in.

If you are a concerned resident of a community suffering from the disease of illegal street racing, a street racer that wants to remedy the problem before you and your friends meet a tragic end, or a business looking to become a better corporate citizen while marketing your product to the street scene demographic, we have the solutions you seek!

One Vision - One Goal. Take Action, Save Lives, and End the Senseless Tragedies.
