Evo Street Racers Featured in "The Sun Chronicle" newspaper: "Fast, furious, deadly"Source: Evo Street Racers Communication Dept Recently Evo Street Racers was contacted by Rick Foster of the Sun Chronicle on the subject of illegal street racing. The article, entitled "Fast, Furious, deadly" was posted on April 19th. The article presented issues that nearly every state suffers from: law enforcement struggling to stop the problem, the dangers of new faster vehicles, and lack of motorsports facilities for young adult's to race on, as seen in the below excerpts: Racing remains a problem in New Bedford, police spokesman Jeffrey Silva said. Although police are aware of racing activity, he said, it's difficult to catch drag racers who benefit from the police department's no-pursuit policy and whose vehicles can outrun most police cars they might encounter. Street racing has been common since cars replaced horses and buggies. But observers say recent automotive technology has introduced higher speeds and made racing infinitely more dangerous and harder to police. The lack of sanctioned legal drag racing facilities - the nearest track to Southeastern Massachusetts is in New Hampshire - makes it inevitable that hot rodders will race on the streets, Eugene said. Although the article was generally well written there were concerns relating to solutions and statistics. Sadly similar to most articles about illegal street racing, The Sun Chronicle failed to capture the solution to the problem rather focused on the dramatic perspective. The article documented a few reasons why illegal street racing occurs including a a lack of motorsports facilities in the North East; however, neglected to outline the actions which can be taken to reduce the problem. It is absolutely necessary for the public to understand that there are answers to solve the illegal street racing problem as outlined in Evo Street Racer's Evolution Solution. Information about the Evolution Solution was shared with The Sun Chronicle; however, sadly they neglected to mention it. Another concern found in the article was the author's attempt to quantify the deaths from illegal street racing as seen in the below excerpt: Across the United States, street racing's popularity is on the increase. So are related deaths. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, 150 people lost their lives in street races in 2006, up 30 percent from the year before. From 2001 to 2006, the death toll exceeded 800. Evo Street Racers continues to make every effort to educate the world to the dangers of the citing illegal street racing statistics. Although there is no doubt that NHSTA has statistics relating to illegal street racing, rarely if ever, are the staistics placed into context. The public deserves to learn of the entire truth thereby enabling them to make the most educated decision to react to the problem. For more information on why current statistics are inaccurate please read Evo Street Racers article "Illegal Street Racing Statistics" Related Articles:
