KENTWOOD (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Two men were hurt during an illegal drag race in Kentwood Thursday. The accident happened on 52nd Street Southeast and Stauffer Avenue. The two drag racers hit speeds of more than 100-miles-per-hour when one of them lost control dodging traffic. Witnesses say one racer, Maxwell Cook, slammed into an oncoming car driven by Kenneth Smith, pinning smith in his car.  He's at Spectrum Butterworth in serious condition. Cook was last reported in fair condition.
