One dead, another hurt in crash after street race Source: The Vancouver Province DELTA -- One man is dead after a street-racing accident in Delta late Monday. Just before 11 p.m., Delta police noticed two vehicles street-racing in the 9000-block Scott Road. Police stopped one vehicle, but the second turned west on Nordel Way and took off at what witnesses describe as a very high rate of speed. The car then struck a third vehicle and lost control. It smashed through a metal guard rail and plunged into a very deep ravine, where it burst into flames. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and is currently at Royal Columbian Hospital with serious injuries. The second occupant was trapped and died inside the wreck, RCMP said. "Due to the extreme difficulty accessing the scene in this deep ravine, the investigation will require Nordel Way between Shepherd Way and Brook Road being closed until well after the morning rush," RCMP spokesman Const. Wave Steinwand said in a release. "Commuters are asked to find alternate routes travelling to work this morning."
