Roseville police arrest two motorcyclists for alleged street racing Source: Sac Bee Roseville police concluded a busy several days of traffic enforcement early Sunday with the arrests of two men who were suspected of racing their motorcycles on North Sunrise Avenue. In addition, officers handed out three citations to drivers for allegedly making illegal modifications on their vehicles for possible street racing, police said. The operation targeting illegal street racing began at 4 p.m. and ended at 2 a.m. Sunday. Besides the two arrests, the officers took a third motorcyclist into custody for allegedly driving recklessly and of having no license, Roseville Police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther said. The suspect ditched his motorcycle in some bushes and tried to run away from police, she said. Because of his attempt to flee, he also was booked on suspicion of resisting arrest, she said. Police also issued five regular speeding tickets during the operation, Gunther said. On Friday night, Roseville police conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Auburn Boulevard, arresting nine people, including six on suspicion of drunken driving. Two days earlier, officers conducted a "zero tolerance" effort aimed at speeding drivers on Cirby Way and Riverside Avenue. Officers handed out 130 citations - about 75 percent of them for speeding, Gunther said.
